Back from Destin

I took mom to Destin over Spring Break. She had never walked on the beach before. She seemed to really enjoy our time there. We drove nearly the whole way on Monday, stopping for the night in Greenville, Alabama at the Holiday Inn Express. The room was nice and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was so-so. We left on Tuesday morning around 9:30am and drove the rest of the way to Destin. We got there around noon and were able to check into our condo at Jetty East right on the beach. After unpacking, we went sightseeing and did a little outlet mall shopping before going to dinner at Callahan's Restaurant and Deli. When we got back to the room we walked down to the beach where we collected a few sea shells and walked on the beach. The water was cold!

Wednesday we went to Harborwalk Village and to Silver Sands outlet mall. We ate at Cheeseburger in Paradise before returning to the Harborwalk area for a Dolphin Cruise before calling it a night. Thursday we checked out the Sandestin Resort and went back to Silver Sands before returning to the room to watch the Kentucky game. They won.

We checked out at 9:00 and headed north. We drove all the way home. Man, were we tired.

I highly recommend a trip to Destin. It was a very beautiful experience.

Icy in Burns, Tennessee

It's an icy Friday night in middle Tennessee. The freezing rain is supposed to change over to just rain overnight. This is good and bad. We may end up with some flooding after all the wintry precipitation we've had this week begins to melt. Hopefully, everything will be melted and gone by Sunday.

Speaking of Sunday, I'm looking forward to directing the Ladies'Hand Bell group as they accompany a flute duet which will be performed by Tanya and Grace Williams. It will be great. Don't miss it. The youth choir will be performing one of my songs, "One Thing," tomorrow in the 6pm service. Thanks, Steve for choosing to have the youth learn the song. I look forward to accompanying the group tomorrow night.

The church offices have been closed most of the week so I have been writing from home. I've been working on a new one called "Whatever" which is taken from John 14 and 15. I'm still working on it. Hopefully I'll finish it this weekend.

If you'd like to, go check out my website. You can listen to and download tracks and sheet music if you'd like.

Winter Jam Nashville

I was invited to go to Winter Jam at Bridgestone Arena tonight. I heard the pre show Bands: Veridia, About a Mile, and Blanca. The main show began at 6pm with For King and Country's Fixing my eyes on you. Then Newsong performed. Newsong seemed a little bit of a misfit as most of the bands seemed to be geared to a younger crowd. But they sung Arise My Love and brought down the house. Next was this dubstep band called Family Force Five. All I remember about them is Crank it like a Chain Saw. Then Tony Nolan preached for about 20 minutes. After that, Building 429 sang We Won't be Shaken, among others. Then Jeremy Camp sang many of his hits. He was awesome. Then Tony Nolan came back on and made a emotional plea about sponsoring children. Then Francesca Battestelli sang many of her hits including Write Your Story. We left before Skillet performed. I really enjoyed the performances. Definitely something to see.
