Last day of freedom???

It looks as if Humphreys County will end its extended Christmas Break tomorrow. As it stands right now, we are going in one hour late. A lot of the surrounding counties have closed altogether while some are open and some are going late. Many around us are closed. Oh well, it has been a restful break. I have been caring for Christine, sleeping in and staying up late. Guess that changes tonight.

I am looking forward to seeing the band kids. It is amazing how much teenagers can change physically over two and a half weeks. I am so fortunate to be able to work with kids who care about music and who want to be the best that they can be. This is year number five in McEwen. It's hard to believe how fast it goes. My daughter, Sarah, is a Senior at Hillwood HS in Nashville this year. Ben is in sixth grade at Bellevue Middle School. I am blessed with two great kids. Never had problems with either and never expect to.

Today was a relatively calm day. We have not heard yet from the doctor about Christine's hip surgery yet. I expect it will occur next week. She currently is on Peritoneal Dialysis nightly and is on the kidney list in the Vanderbilt program. Actually, she has to undergo some tests to maintain her status as a recipient. Those will have to wait until we can get her hip operation.

Mom and Dad are doing ok in Kentucky. Dad is bedridden with liver failure. Mom cares for him at home. Nurses come in three days a week to help out. We got to see Mom and Dad over the break. I had the kids for a week. We drove to Henderson and back in one day. It was tough on Christine but she insisted on going. Did I ever mention she is a tad bit stubborn sometimes? Aren't we all.

I hope you have visited www.jeffmartinpiano.com. My latest CD is a Contemporary Jazz project of all original music. I'm very pleased with it. My track 1:37am had received airplay on several stations. You can listen to it on my site by clicking on the music player at the top of the page. Hope you like it.

Time for bed. Stay safe.
Jeff
